Meet Bill Werneke;
Bill Werneke has over 22 years of professional guiding experience in Alaska. Fishing in the summer and hunting in the fall, Bill is a full time professional guide spending almost every day of the Alaska season, on the water, or in the field.
Bill's experience ranges beyond the borders of Alaska, many years were spent guiding hunters and fisherman across the United States, in pursuit of everything from waterfowl to whitetails. This broad range of experience helps Bill to provide you with the best hunting or fishing trip possible
Bill is an avid hunter and a passionate fisherman and when not putting his clients on to the fish, or bear of a lifetime he is pursuing fish and game for himself, or with his family. Bills two young daughters have been on the water with him starting at just a few months of age and are developing quit an interest in the outdoors themselves.
Guiding hunters and fisherman is not just a job, it’s a passion. Whether it’s running a jet boat on a salmon stream, floating a remote river for rainbows or glassing an alpine valley for moose or a grizzly, there is no place on earth that Bill enjoys sharing with his guests, more, than the wilderness of Alaska.
For many years after the Alaska season ended, Bill followed the game trails across the country, following the seasons and the weather to extend his guide season as long as possible. Bill is a registered Maine guide and spent many years taking clients on wilderness whitetail hunts while working for the well known guide, author, and TV host Hal Blood. In search of new experiences Bill ended up in eastern Montana where he spent over 7 years guiding for whitetail and mule deer, antelope, upland birds and waterfowl.
Bills fishing experience covers most of Alaska, from the remote Bearing sea coast of the Alaska Peninsula to the fabled waters of Bristol Bay and as far north as the Brooks Range. Beyond Alaska his travels have taken him from the Atlantic coast of Maine and south to the tropical waters of the Bahamas and the Florida keys
Bill and his wife Karrie both grew up in Vermont, after starting their own family they decided to enjoy the best of both worlds and split their year between Alaska and Vermont giving their children the opportunity to grow up around family. In Vermont, Karrie’s family owns a dairy and maple syrup farm and Bill started to handle the forestry operations on the maple farm. Maple syrup production is a winter and early spring season so the schedule coincides well with the Alaska hunting and fishing season. They have been gradually expanding the maple business and now tap over 18,000 trees and produce around 8000 gallons of maple syrup annually.
